The power of small changes

Not every kitchen transformation requires starting from scratch. In this project, we focused on working with what was already there -refreshing the existing cabinetry and updating key elements to completely shift the feel of the space.

The original kitchen was functional although it had never been completely finished, mismatched toe kicks and one corner cupboard that sat for years without a door. Rather than replacing the kitchen, we hand-painted the existing cabinetry in Dulux Knave, a deep, moody green that brings depth and warmth while complementing the natural tones already present in the home.

Updating the cabinet hardware created a cleaner, more contemporary finish, while new flooring helped brighten and modernise the room, reflecting natural light from the large kitchen window and drawing the eye toward the surrounding landscape.

By layering thoughtful design choices with the existing materials, including the plywood ceiling and warm textures, the kitchen now feels grounded, modern and connected to its setting.

This project is a great example of how strategic updates can dramatically transform a space without the cost of a full kitchen replacement.
